Table booking for a café

Guests pick the day, party size, area and time themselves, and the booking shows up on the cashier’s table list. You can try the demo on its page.

Three seating areas and tables booked over chat

We designed this concept for a café with an indoor area, a terrace and an upstairs room that takes bookings over chat. It is not client work: the café is made up, and nothing is saved or sent.

Every booking takes five messages back and forth

Booking over chat means asking for the day, the time, the party size and the area one at a time. What we set out to solve:

  • Guests wait for a reply to find out whether there is a table
  • The cashier writes bookings in a book, apart from the tables already taken
  • Tables in a full area still get offered

Book as a guest, then look from the cashier’s side

Full time slots cannot be picked. After booking, open the cashier’s view to see the table.

Guests only see the tables that are still free

The guest form and the cashier’s table list read the same schedule:

  • Full time slots are not offered, per area, so no booking has to be turned down
  • The party size sets how many tables it takes, four seats a table
  • Bookings go straight onto the cashier’s table list, with the name and time
  • A WhatsApp reminder is set for two hours before, so no table sits empty waiting

In a real project the reminder is really sent, and the cashier can mark guests who have arrived.
